I choose to work with ceramics that can function in our daily lives. An important aspect of the handmade object, whether it is a bowl or a cup, is that each one has their own unique qualities. I want the user to experience the joy of using a handmade object in everyday life. To create a connection with others, I draw upon my thoughts, feelings, and life experiences as a source of inspiration. I want the viewer to interpret, breakdown, and take away their own interpretation and personal meaning when encountered with the personal imagery of my work. My application of techniques, surface treatments, and imagery in the making, construction, and decorating of the pieces I make suits me well. Putting forth my work into society and seeing others connect to them in whatever way they do is the essence of what my work is all about. I most enjoy the creative moments that reveal humor, vulnerability, and risk.
